Kerala is one of India's most popular honeymoon destinations, and for good reason. In a single trip you can wake up to mist over tea hills, drift down a backwater canal and watch the sun set over the sea. The challenge is to do all that without spending the holiday in a car. The packages in this group are designed to keep drives manageable, nights restful and days open.
What our couple plans usually include
- Two or three bases, typically Munnar for the hills, Alleppey or Kumarakom for the backwaters and Kovalam or Varkala for the sea.
- A private houseboat night, on a boat chosen for its classification, cabin and crew.
- A private car with driver, so that you can stop for tea estates, viewpoints and spice gardens.
- Honest pacing. No more than one long drive a day, and a free afternoon after the longest.
- Small extras on request, such as a candlelit dinner, a couples' Ayurveda massage, a photographer or room decoration, arranged in advance.
Choosing the season
December to February is the most comfortable and the busiest period. September to November offers green landscapes and lower prices after the monsoon. March to May is warm, but Munnar stays cool. The monsoon months of June to August can be romantic for travellers who like rain, with quiet resorts and Ayurveda, but hill roads and beaches are less predictable.
How to pick a package
Start with the Kerala honeymoon, 5 nights for a balanced hills, backwaters and beach plan. If you have a week or more, the Classic Kerala tour adds Thekkady and an extra beach night. For a short break, the weekend escape covers Munnar and a houseboat.
Honest advice for couples
Do not squeeze three hill stations into five days. Two nights in Munnar is better than one night each in three places. Choose the houseboat carefully; a good one is a highlight and a poor one is a letdown. Ask about air-conditioning hours, the cabin and the crew. And think about the end of the trip: finishing at a beach is a gentle way to relax before flying home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kerala good for a honeymoon?
It is one of India's most popular honeymoon destinations, with a mix of hills, backwaters and beaches. A typical plan has two nights in Munnar, a night on a houseboat and two nights at a beach or resort. Keep days short, book quiet properties and avoid trying to do too much.
What should I know before booking a houseboat in Alleppey?
Choose a registered, classified boat with a waste-treatment system, confirm whether you want a private or shared boat, and check the timings. Houseboats usually check in around midday and moor before dark. Ask about air-conditioning hours, the meals, the crew and the cabin photos, and avoid very cheap offers that cut corners on safety or hygiene.
Is it worth visiting Kerala in the monsoon?
Yes, for the right trip. Heavy rain brings green hills, waterfalls and the traditional Ayurveda season, with lower hotel rates. But landslides can close hill roads, beaches may be unsafe for swimming, and some activities are cancelled. Choose resort-based stays, keep your plans flexible and check district advisories before travelling to Munnar or Wayanad.
