Family-friendly Andaman plans with fewer ferry hops, resorts with gentle beaches, glass-bottom boats and easy activities for children.

Need a different route or pace?

Tell us your travel dates, group size, starting point, preferred stay category and budget range. We will use those details to prepare a more relevant Andaman & Nicobar plan.

A family trip to the Andamans can be memorable or tiring, depending on how it is planned. Ferries can be rough, the heat and humidity are real, and water activities need supervision. The packages in this group are built to reduce stress: fewer island hops, comfortable resorts, gentle experiences and plenty of rest.

What makes a plan family-friendly

  • Fewer ferry crossings. Most family plans use Port Blair and one island, usually Havelock, so you cross by sea only twice.
  • Resorts with space. Rooms for families, safe beaches nearby and meals suited to children.
  • Easy activities. Glass-bottom boats, calm beaches, short snorkels with life jackets and museum visits.
  • Realistic days. One main activity a day, with a long break in the middle.
  • Motion-sickness advice. Tablets, a front seat and fresh air help on the ferry.
  • Safety. Life jackets, supervised water time and clear rules on coral and wildlife.

Ideas that children enjoy

  • Watching fish through the floor of a glass-bottom boat.
  • Walking on the seabed with a helmet at North Bay.
  • Spotting deer among ruins on Ross Island.
  • Building sandcastles at Radhanagar.
  • Snorkelling in shallow water with a guide.
  • Learning about the islands at a museum.

Choosing the season

November to April is the main season. Winter school holidays, in particular December to January, are peak. October and May are possible, with some weather risk. We do not recommend the monsoon for families.

Where to begin

Look at the Andaman family holiday, 6 nights, which uses Port Blair and Havelock. The Classic Andaman tour adds Neil for families who like variety.

Send us the ages of the travellers and your dates and we will plan around them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it suitable for children and senior travellers?

Yes, with planning. Ferry crossings can be rough, so bring motion-sickness remedies. Beaches are shallow in places, but currents can be strong, so supervise children closely. Seniors do well in Port Blair and Havelock resorts with ground-floor rooms and limited walking.

How do ferries between the islands work?

Private high-speed ferries and government ferries link Port Blair, Havelock and Neil, with crossings of roughly one to two and a half hours. Tickets are booked in advance, schedules change with the season and weather, and sailings are cancelled in rough seas. We suggest a buffer of at least half a day before any flight home.

How can I protect the reefs?

Do not touch, stand on or collect coral or shells. Use reef-safe sunscreen, choose operators who brief you on reef etiquette and avoid feeding fish. Collecting corals and shells is illegal, and fines apply. A snorkel or dive is best enjoyed by looking and leaving nothing behind.
