Tell us your travel dates, group size, starting point, preferred stay category and budget range. We will use those details to prepare a more relevant Rajasthan plan.

A family trip to Rajasthan can be wonderful or exhausting, depending on the pace. Forts have stairs, summer heat can be intense and road legs are long. The plans in this group are built with those things in mind: shorter drives, fewer hotel changes, a pool at most stays and wildlife or activities that children enjoy.

What makes a plan family-friendly

  • One big sight a day. Amer Fort or the City Palace in the morning, then a break and a lighter afternoon.
  • Realistic drives. We aim to keep road legs under five hours, and we use trains or flights where it makes sense.
  • Hotels with pools and family rooms, so that children can swim after sightseeing.
  • Wildlife and activities. A tiger safari at Ranthambore, a puppet show in Udaipur, a village visit or a camel ride at sunset.
  • Food that works. Rajasthani thalis, child-friendly options and vegetarian menus.
  • Rest. A late start on the day after a long drive.

When to go

October to March is the best time for families, particularly November to February. Summer holidays in May and June fall at the hottest time of year, and we only recommend trips then if you are prepared to sightsee early and rest at the hotel in the afternoons. The monsoon is cooler but wet.

Ranthambore and children

Many families add Ranthambore for the safari experience. It works best for children who can sit quietly for a couple of hours, and early mornings in winter are cold, so layers matter. Even without a tiger sighting, children often enjoy the birds, deer and the drive.

Where to begin

See the Rajasthan family holiday with Ranthambore and the Golden Triangle, which suits families visiting from far away.

Send us the ages of the travellers and your dates and we will plan around them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Rajasthan suitable for children and senior travellers?

Yes, with a measured pace. Forts involve stairs and uneven stone, so choose one or two highlights per day, travel in the cooler months and keep drives under five hours when you can. Heritage hotels with lifts or ground-floor rooms suit seniors, and many forts have ramps or vehicle access to the upper levels.

Can I visit Rajasthan in summer?

You can, but it is hard. Daytime temperatures in May and June regularly pass 40 degrees, and forts and open-air sites become uncomfortable by late morning. If you must travel then, plan sightseeing before 10 am and after 4 pm, stay at hotels with a pool and consider Udaipur or Mount Abu, which are slightly cooler.

Will I see a tiger at Ranthambore?

It is possible but never guaranteed. Ranthambore is one of the better places in India to see tigers in the wild, but sightings depend on the zone, the season and luck. Booking several safaris, preferring winter and spring, and choosing an experienced naturalist all improve the odds. Safaris are closed in the monsoon.
