This is our reference plan for couples. It is built around a simple idea: spend your best hours on the things that feel special, and keep the rest light. You land in Srinagar, spend a few days around the lake, add a Gulmarg day and a night or two in Pahalgam, and leave with time to spare.
Who it suits
Honeymooners, anniversary trips and couples who want a private, flexible plan with a car and driver. It works from April to October for gardens and meadows, and with a few changes for the snow season. If you travel in winter, look at the winter snow escape.
What makes it romantic, in practice
- A houseboat night on Dal Lake, with dinner on board and the quiet of the early morning.
- A Shikara ride at the end of the day, when the light turns soft.
- A private cab so you can stop for photographs, start late or stay longer.
- Fewer moves. One base in Srinagar, one in Pahalgam, and Gulmarg as a day trip.
- Optional extras, such as room decoration, a candlelight-style dinner or a photo session, arranged in advance.
Pace and flexibility
The six days below show a typical flow. We can shorten it to four days by removing Pahalgam, or extend to seven by adding Sonamarg or a second houseboat night. If your dates fall in the snow season, we adjust the order so Gulmarg is the headline.
When a different plan suits you better
If you want a high-energy honeymoon with trekking, rafting or skiing, this plan is too gentle, and a Gulmarg-focused winter itinerary or a Pahalgam-based trek plan will serve you better. If you have only three or four days, drop Pahalgam and keep Srinagar and Gulmarg. If you are travelling in July or August, expect more rain and the Amarnath Yatra crowds near Pahalgam; we may suggest a Doodhpathri or Sonamarg day instead. And if you want complete seclusion, ask us about quieter lodging outside the main town centres.
Good to know
- Check that room decoration and special dinners are confirmed before arrival.
- The houseboat is an atmospheric stay, but ask about heating and room photos.
- Gulmarg Gondola tickets and local cabs in Pahalgam are paid directly and are not part of the package.
- In spring and autumn, keep a warm layer for evenings.
