Seven days allows a full loop of the main islands without rushing. This plan runs from Port Blair to Havelock to Neil and back, with Ross Island and North Bay as an easy first excursion. It leaves out Baratang, which can be added as a day trip.

Who it suits: travellers who want variety, families with older children and groups of friends. Pace: three ferry days and four lighter days. Seasonal tweaks: from November to April the plan is as written. In October and May, expect some weather risk. In the monsoon, we do not recommend it.

The shape of the week. The first two days are about Port Blair's history and short boat trips, the middle days about Havelock's beaches and the reef, and the last days about Neil's calm and your return, with a buffer built in before the flight. Making it easier. Start sightseeing early and plan rest in the afternoons. If you want a calmer trip, drop Neil and add a night on Havelock. If you want to dive, plan it on Day 4 and not later than Day 5.

Getting around. Private taxis cover transfers, and ferries link the islands, so you rarely need to arrange anything yourself. This is the route of our Classic Andaman tour. For a slower pace, ask us to remove a stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days do I need for the Andamans?

Six or seven days covers Port Blair, Havelock and Neil Island at a comfortable pace. Five days works if you skip Neil. Because ferries are weather-dependent and the islands are a flight away, anything under five days feels rushed. Add days if you want to dive, visit Baratang or explore the north.

Can beginners try scuba diving in the Andamans?

Yes. Introductory dives need no certification, only basic fitness, a medical declaration and a short briefing. Choose a certified, insured operator with trained instructors. Do not fly within 18 to 24 hours of diving, and tell the instructor about any health conditions, including colds and asthma.

How do ferries between the islands work?

Private high-speed ferries and government ferries link Port Blair, Havelock and Neil, with crossings of roughly one to two and a half hours. Tickets are booked in advance, schedules change with the season and weather, and sailings are cancelled in rough seas. We suggest a buffer of at least half a day before any flight home.
