Route: Goa airport - North Goa - South Goa - airport

Places covered: North Goa, Candolim, Old Goa, South Goa, Palolem or Colva

This plan mixes a lively beach stay with a quiet one, so a couple can have both a bit of buzz and a lot of space. It is designed for honeymooners who do not want to be in a car for most of their holiday and who like to decide each morning what the day will be.

Who it suits

Newly married couples, anniversary trips and couples travelling together for the first time on a longer holiday. It works from October to May. In the monsoon, we adapt it into a resort-and-spa stay with fewer outdoor plans.

How the days flow

Two nights in North Goa give you good restaurants, sunset walks and one sightseeing outing. Two nights in South Goa or at Palolem give you a quieter beach, a spa evening and time to do nothing. A sunset cruise on the Mandovi, a dinner on the sand and a half-day in Old Goa are the highlights.

When another plan might suit you better

If you want only a quiet beach and nothing else, a single-base stay in Palolem or Agonda will give you more peace than splitting coasts. If you want a lively social honeymoon, with beach clubs and late dinners, a North Goa stay for all four nights is better. If you are travelling in the monsoon, we would suggest a resort with a spa and a heritage day instead of beach activities.

Romantic extras

Romance in Goa is mostly about setting and timing. Ask us about a sunset dinner on the beach, a couples' spa session, room decoration or a private cruise. We arrange these in advance, because they sell out in peak weeks.

Choosing your south base

If you like resort comfort, choose a Varca or Benaulim resort. If you prefer a beach hut or boutique stay, choose Palolem or Agonda. Our Palolem and Agonda guide describes the differences.

Things to know

  • The move between north and south takes around an hour and a half.
  • Beach huts are atmospheric but basic, so check bathrooms and security.
  • Airports are far apart: Mopa suits North Goa; Dabolim suits South Goa. Tell us which flights you have.
  • Nightlife is a choice, not an obligation. We can keep evenings quiet.

Customising

Add a night, switch to a single base, include Dudhsagar or choose a luxury resort. Share your dates and the mood you want, and we will adapt the plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I stay in North Goa or South Goa?

Choose North Goa for nightlife, water sports, shopping and a lively beach scene, with Calangute, Baga, Anjuna and Vagator as the hubs. Choose South Goa for quieter beaches, longer stretches of sand, resorts and a slower pace, with Palolem, Agonda and Colva as the usual bases. Families and couples often prefer the south; friends groups often prefer the north.

Which airport should I fly into for Goa?

Goa has two. Manohar International Airport at Mopa (GOX) is in the far north and is convenient for North Goa. Dabolim (GOI) is closer to South Goa and Panaji. Several airlines now operate from Mopa, so always check the airport code on your ticket, and note that the two are around two hours apart by road.

Is nightlife in Goa safe?

It can be enjoyable if you take sensible precautions. After a fatal nightclub fire in Arpora in December 2025, the state tightened fire-safety enforcement. Choose licensed venues that look well managed, note the exits when you arrive, avoid overcrowded spaces, keep an eye on your drinks and belongings and arrange your ride back in advance.

Is it worth going to Goa in the monsoon?

It can be, if you want greenery, waterfalls, quiet roads and lower hotel rates, and do not need beach activities. Most beach shacks are dismantled, water sports and sea swimming are restricted, and heavy rain can interrupt plans. Choose a hotel with a pool, add Ayurveda or heritage days, and keep your expectations realistic.
