Somnath is built around the Jyotirlinga temple on the coast at Prabhas Patan. The temple sits directly above the shoreline, and an evening sound and light show is a fixture of most itineraries.

Getting around

The nearest railhead is Veraval, about 7 km away, and Diu airport is roughly 90 km. Somnath is commonly paired with Dwarka, which is around 230–250 km to the north-west, usually a five to six hour drive.

Good to know

Security at the temple is strict. Phones, cameras and bags are generally not permitted inside and must be deposited at the counters provided, so allow extra time around darshan.
